Model United Nations are training projects that, through a role game, allow participants to simulate the decision-making processes of the various committees that make up the United Nations. Each participant plays the role of Ambassador of a country and will have the objective of formulating and negotiating, together with their colleagues, documents – called resolutions. The resolutions have to propose solutions to some of the most important problems facing the international community: climate change, human rights, armed conflicts, migration, economic crises, and many others. Rotaract Global Model United Nations (RotaractMUN) is not just a simulation of the UN process but transcends into an actual decision–making process. It provides a platform where young professionals, university students, youths with a passion for change, Rotaractors, and Rotarians, the world over, can share their voices on global issues. Every year, the decision–making process is led in a different country and RotaractMUN is organized by a different Rotaract Club. Since 2013, there have been successful editions of RotaractMUN in Romania, the United Kingdom, Serbia, the USA (at the UN HQ), Bulgaria, Lebanon, India, Mexico, Turkey, and Nepal.

Our vision for the Rotaract MUN Salerno 2023 project does not stop at the logistical organisation of the conference. Throughout the conference, every venue and every activity will allow our delegates to get to know our territory, history, and culture. As young Rotarians, we believe deeply in our responsibility to promote and encourage awareness,understanding, tolerance, and acceptance of different people, cultures, beliefs, and attitudes, which is at the heart of the UN and RI.

The RotaractMUN Salerno will highlight, throughout the whole process, the Rotary Values and Areas of Focus with a crucial value given to Positive Peace. Defined as the attitudes, institutions, and structures that, when strengthened, lead to a more peaceful society, Positive Peace describes an optimum environment for human potential to flourish.
